Beamer in Zuckerwürfelgröße: Light Blue Optics
Wirklich coole Geräte findet man derzeit in erstaunlichen Mengen. Eines der wirklich beeindruckenden ist ein Beamer von Light Blue Optics. Das Teil, welches derzeit als Technologiemuster an Entwickler und dergleichen geschickt wird, hat die Ausmaße von zwei bis drei Zuckerwürfeln und erzeugt Bilder auf holografischem Wege.Der Vorteil holografischer Bildgebung ist dabei im Wesentlichen, dass das projezierte Bild immer scharf ist, egal wie wellig oder merkwürdig die Projektionsfläche ist.
"PVPro%u2122 diffractive technology provides a novel approach for projecting large, high-quality images from an extremely compact device. The system uses laser light sources in conjunction with a phase modulating liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) microdisplay on which a hologram (or diffraction) pattern, rather than the desired image, is displayed. The patterns are calculated such that, when the microdisplay is illuminated by coherent laser light, the physical process of diffraction results in the formation of the image."

Warum allerdings bisher noch niemand auf die Idee kam, ein Flüssigkristallpanel zur Erzeugung von Hologrammen zu nutzen, ist mir erstmal schleierhaft. Diese haben nämlich Prinzipbedingt die Möglichkeit solche zu erzeugen, sind es doch techisch gesehen nur Geräte zur Phasenmodulation von Licht - eben einer Eigenschaft von bestimmten Hologrammsorten. Kleine Laser als Lichtquelle für coherentes Licht (als Vorraussetzung für solche Hologramme) gibt es schon seit längerem. Na jedenfalls kann man gespannt sein, was da noch draus wird und wann die ersten Consumergeräte zu kaufen sein werden (wahrscheinlich erstmal einfarbig - aber das dürfte angesichts der geringen Ausmaße auch vorerst unerheblich sein).
