Da kommt man mal auf die Idee ein Paket von ca. 7 Kilogramm in Richtung Australien aus Deutschland zu verschicken und freut sich, dass es Trackingnummern und ein fürchterlich optimiertes Unternehmen gibt. Also ein paar Tage nach Abschicken ans Internet gesetzt und mal schaun ob das Tracking bei DHL auch so toll klappt wie bei UPS und eigentlich allen anderen Paketservices.Naja ... es soll ja Firmen geben, die sowas können.

Man glaubt ja, dass Banken so Betriebe sind, denen selten Fehler unterlaufen. Am seltensten unterlaufen denen Fehler, wenn es um die Bespitzelung der eigenen Kundschaft geht. Die SCHUFA ist da ein probates Mittel: ohne eine entsprechende Erklärung, dass man zugunsten dieses privatwirtschaftlichen Unternehmens (Genossenschaft) auf seine Bürgerrechte des Datenschutzes und des Bankgeheimnisses verzichtet, bekommt man auch kein Konto mehr in Deutschland.Es scheint so, als würden Commerzbank und Amex da eine Ausnahme machen - zumindest was die Übernahme von Konten betrifft.

Seit einigen Jahren bin ich unzufriedener Kunde der American Express Bank, der einfach aus Kostengründen nicht von den Leute weg geht - als ich das letzte mal wegen Kontenauflösung vorsprach erzählte man was von Bearbeitungsgebühr.Dieses Problem hat sich nun von allein gelöst, da diese Zahlungsmittelausgabestelle mit Bankambitionen scheinbar selbst erkannt hat, dass zu einer Bank mehr gehört als Kontoführung.

Man testet Privatauktionen auf eBay darauf, ob der vom Verkäufer gewünschte Haftungsausschluss auch wirklich erreicht wurde. Ist natürlich nicht der Fall, da die Verkäufer schlicht nicht die richtige Zauberformel aufsagten.

Man kann sich nur wundern ... aber vielleicht ist das ja normal ... und eigentlich schreib ich das hier nur, als Merkzettel für später mal, wenn ich mal wieder nen Stapel Festplatten kaufen muss.Da erwarb ich vor einigen Jahren (so gegen Ende 2006) bei Compuland einige 500GB-Platten von Western Digital. Es waren die teuren RAID-Edition Platten (SATA). Auf die Dinger gibt der Hersteller 5 Jahre Garantie. Soweit so schön und alles war super, die Dinger haben ihren Dienst auch verreichtet - aber eben nur ca. 2 Jahre lang. Dann stieg die erste aus und der Spaß begann.
Also RMA bei WD lostreten und ... nix los. Die Platten, die man mir von Compuland lieferte, wurden laut WD opffensichtlich in den USA verkauft. Dort könnte ich auch die Garantie in Anspruch nehmen, nicht jedoch in Europa. Compuland zog sich auch sehr beflissen auf ihre 2 Jahre Gewährleistungsfrist zurück und lehnte jede Garantieabwicklung ab. WD erklärte sich für die erste der drei Platten bereit, die Garantie auf Europa um zu schreiben, bei der zweiten aber schon nicht mehr.

Das muss ich einfach mal los werden, die Story ist in ihrer Fortschreibung zu lustig um das nicht mal gesagt zu haben.Als Betreiber eines Webhostingdienstes wird man ja in diversen whois-Einträgen gelistet - nämlich immer dort, wo der technische Kontakt und der Zonenkontakt erscheint.
Die Mailadressen, die da zu sehen sind, werden auch gern von diversen Spammern angeschrieben. Die bisher lustigsten sind solche, die mir die jeweilige *.com-Domain zu den von mir technisch betreuten *.irgendwas-Domains anbieten wollen.
Und sie versuchen, sich wirklich lächerlich machend, echt hartnäckig zu sein.

Wieder mal was für den persönlichen Merkzettel:Unter Windows hat man ab und an mal das Problem, dass Putty keine Umlaute übertragen oder darstellen möchte. Das hat meist was damit zu tun, dass der Unix-Host am anderen Ende keine funktionierenden Einstellungen zur Lokalisierung besitzt.

Leuchtpilze wiedergefunden
Vor Jahren hatte ich das schon mal gefunden, nun endlich wird das auch mal verbloggt.Es geht um Leuchtpilze und findet sich auf Pilze, Pilze.
Leuchtpilze
Wer sich nachts in den Wald traut, dem kann es passieren, dass er Stellen am Waldboden begegnet, die in einem grünlichen Licht leuchten Es sind dies vom Myzel des Hallimasch durchwachsene Holzstücke. Das Leuchten ist teilweise so hell, daß es früher von nordischen Völkern zur Wegmarkierung im Wald benutzt wurde.
In den Tropen ist dieses Phänomen wesentlich weiter verbreitet. Dort leuchtet nicht nur das Substrat auf dem die Pilze wachsen, sondern auch diese selbst (u.a. bei einigen Helmlingen (z.B. Mycena chlorophos) und beim Leuchtenden Ölbaumpilz) in teilweise hoher Intensität. In Indonesien haben junge Mädchen in früheren Zeiten sich solche Pilze in die Haare gesteckt, um des Nachts attraktiver zu erscheinen. Das Leuchten entsteht auf ähnliche Weise wie in Glühwürmchen und dient möglicherweise der Anlockung von Insekten zur Sporenverbreitung.

Am vergangenen Sonntag (28.09.2008) war ja auch Wahl in Bayern. Auf der debate-Liste des CCC kam dann auch eine schicke anfrage, was man denn machen kann, wenn man mal so komische Vorgänge pubizieren möchte.Der Fall lag so, dass in Münchberg das Wahllokal für den Stimmbezirk 3 in den Räumen der örtlichen Sparkasse aufgebaut wurde. Natürlich hat man zu diesem Zwecke nicht alle Sicherheitsvorkehrungen der Spakasse entfernt, nur weil die das Wahlgeheimnis untergraben könnten - naja ... eigentlich negieren sie das ja.

In den 80er Jahren wurde er bekannt durch Briefe an Computer-besitzende, männliche Kinder und Jugendliche im Pubertätsalter, in denen er sich als weiblicher Teenager ausgab und um die Zusendung von raubkopierten Spielen bat. Bei Erfolg dieser Masche flatterten den Eltern Anwaltsrechnungen und anderes Ungemacht ins Haus.In den 90ern verlegte er sich auf das Abmahnen von Urheberrechtsverstößen der skurrileren Art und wurde recht bekannt.
In den Nuller-Jahren drehte er dann wohl durch und begann sich aufs Urkundenfälschen, Veruntreuen und Betrügen zu verlegen.
Das derzeit bekannte Ausmaß seiner kriminellen Tätigkeiten kann man gut bei Heise nachlesen.
Den damals in den 80er Jahren erfolgreich angeschriebenen Menschen düfte es eine späte aber ausreichende Genugtuung sein, dass Herrn von Gravenreuth nun vom Landgericht Berlin eine Haftstrafe bestätigt wurde, die er vor einem Jahr am Amtsgericht Tiergarten erhielt.

Wieder mal ein Merkzetteleintrag - diesmal eine Newsseite. Laut heise war der HIV-Forscher Michael Imbeault sehr unzufrieden mit den automatisch von Google generierten Newszusammenstellungen, die er sich so täglich reinzog. Als Mann der Taten hat er sich dann wohl ein Drupal genommen und um ein Sphinx bereichert. Was dabei herauskommt beschreibt der Heise-Artikel dann so:Durchsucht werden mit der Open Source-Suchmaschine Sphinx bislang an die 40 große Nachrichtenquellen für Neuigkeiten aus den Wissenschaften und die gefundenen News in Rubriken wie Astronomie, Biologie, Klima oder Mathematik eingeordnet, nach Bedeutung gelistet und mit ähnlichen News verbunden.
Hört sich erstmal sehr nutzbar an. Vielleicht könnte man solches ja früs eigene Blog auch mal umsetzen. Ich kenn jedenfalls eines, in dem das wirklich sinnvoll wäre.

Manchmal nervt es schon, wenn man mit Worten wie "googlen" traktiert wird. Es macht den Eindruck, dass die einzige richtige Art der Recherche im Netz mit dieser Firma zusammen hängt.Wie es aussieht, hat sich da nun aber recht plötzlich eine wirklich brauchbare Konkurrenz aufgetan: Cuil nennt sich das und hat ein paar nette Eigenheiten.

Aus unerklärlichem Grund fallen mir seit ca. 5 Jahren im Abstand von ungefähr einem Jahr Leute auf den Weg, die irgendwas mit Stevia zu tun haben. Sei es, dass sie es anbauen, oder dass sie Produkte daraus herstellen oder eben einfach direkten Zugang zu jemandem haben, der Produkte daraus anbietet. Seit mir meine Pflanze dereinst mal eingegangen ist, hatte ich mich aber nicht mehr aktiv darum gekümmert.Nunja, es ist mal wieder so weit. Zeit also, sich mal wieder mit dem aktuellen Stand zu dieser Pflanze zu beschäftigen. Ein entsprechender Webshop, der offensichtlich auch noch andere dinge vertreibt, die sonst nur offline zu haben sind dürfte MEDHERBs sein.

Es war ja ein großer Aufschrei am Anfang dieser Woche als die Steuerfahndung dann mal beim Herrn Zumwinkel an die Tür klopfte und einige Akten mit nahm. Der eigentliche Hammer aber waren die zusätzlichen Kommentarhäppchen, die da aus der Behörde kamen. Man teilte mit, dass es da noch hunderte anderer gäbe, bei denen man nun mal vorbei schauen wolle - so im Laufe der Woche vielleicht.Für mich stellt sich das etwas komisch dar. Einerseits ist man in der Lage, mal schnell mit einem wirklich dicken Aufgebot von Beamten in ganz Deutschland hinter Kiffern her zu rennen, die im trauten Heim ihre Selbstversorgung mit Rauchwerk betreiben, andererseits warnt man Leute die offensichtlich im mehrere Millionenbereich den Staat um seine Steuern bescheißen vor demnächst statt findenden Hausbesuchen.
